Kara has worked in the field for 14 years. She has worked in a variety of settings including: acute psychiatric hospitals, adolescent residential care, jail/prison, public schools, outpatient and in-home services. Her counseling experience is diverse as she has worked with at-risk adolescents, families, older adults, men and women with issues ranging from stress management to serious mental health or addiction issues.
Kara's approach to therapy is direct yet compassionate. She views the therapeutic relationship as vital and she strives to see situations through the eyes of her clients. In this way she is able to assist clients in new ways of seeing their situation. Kara believes a person can make positive changes in their lives with the right direction and support.
One of her specialty areas is in addictions and she is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in Nebraska. Kara provides substance abuse evaluations, recommendations, and treatment. She is a Registered Provider of substance abuse services for adults and juveniles by the Nebraska Supreme Court Probation Administration. She is a member of the Association of Private Practice Therapists (APPT).
