Have You Experienced a Trauma?

Are you struggling with disturbing memories, nightmares and flashbacks?

Do you feel ashamed of what happened and wonder if you are to blame?

Have you been struggling with depression, anxiety and/or panic attacks?

Do you feel angry, irritable and unable to control outbursts?

Are you suddenly overwhelmed by memories or sensations related to something you thought was long over?

Are you unsure if what happened was traumatic, but know that you are finding it difficult to cope?

No matter what happened or how it is affecting you today, EMDR therapy can help.

What Is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that helps people heal symptoms related to disturbing life events and/or trauma. This form of trauma therapy was developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987. EMDR incorporates elements from various treatment modalities and is known to be a highly effective treatment for many types of emotional distress.

There have been numerous controlled studies demonstrating the effectiveness of EMDR in assisting people with healing traumatic memories. In fact, it is believed that EMDR can assist individuals in healing their traumas in a much shorter time than with other forms of psychotherapy. Furthermore, EMDR can be successfully used in conjunction with other forms of psychotherapy.

EMDR remains one of the most researched psychotherapeutic treatments for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. EMDR has proven to be effective in treating other types of disorders including phobias, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, as well as, helping people improve their performance.

Counseling Connections & Associates has an EMDR-trained therapist Dr. Kristi Tackett-Newburg who can help individuals work through trauma and performance issues.
