Salina Anderson is an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner who is board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She has been working in her current role for over five years. Salina provides initial evaluations and ongoing medication management for a variety of ages. She specializes in the following populations: children and adolescents, transition age (16-26), and maternal perinatal and postpartum. She has experience treating many different conditions including autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, insomnia, bipolar disorder, and postpartum depression.
Salina believes through educating patients, providing treatment options, and providing support, patients are empowered to make treatment decisions that best fit the lifestyles and treatment outcomes they desire. She has always had a passion for holistic mental health treatment and will incorporate alternative treatments if preferred.
Salina focuses on family centered approaches when treating children and adolescents in order to provide the best treatment for the patient. She recognizes that mental health impacts more than just the individual and engages the family in the treatment process. She will collaborate with other treatment providers, both mental health and medical, as well as educational staff in order to advocate for the needs of patients.
Often it can be difficult to find providers willing to treat those in the transition age, however Salina particularly enjoys and understands the needs of this age group varies greatly from adolescents and older adults. She loves helping them find their own path and take control of their mental health.
Salina recognizes the significant impact the perinatal and postpartum period has on the health and development of a mother and baby. She understands these periods can be stressful and mothers need specialty care in order to meet their mental health needs while minimizing risks. She empowers mothers to make knowledgeable decisions regarding their mental health treatment.
She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clarkson College. She obtained a broad range of experience from working as an RN on the Transplant Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and Medical-Surgical Units at Nebraska Medicine. She also worked as an RN at the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Partial Program at CHI Health.
She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Since then, she has had an outpatient practice at CHI Health Immanuel where she provided initial evaluations and ongoing medication management for a variety of ages and mental health diagnoses. In addition, she has experience in both inpatient and day service psychiatric settings. Having a wide range of clinical experience, has allowed her to have a better understanding of patient experiences along the spectrum of psychiatric care.
