Emotional intelligence is a key indicator of leadership performance. The Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) is the only ability-based measure of emotional intelligence. Developed by academics at Yale and the University of New Hampshire, the MSCEIT uses a variety of objective and creative tasks to measure a person’s capacity for reasoning with emotional information by directly testing their ability.

The assessment tests the respondent's ability to perceive, use, understand, and regulate emotions.
